Telecommunication Audits CPE CPE: A transmission system that uses repeaters that compensate for analog medium impairments and produce output signals that are linear-scaled versions of input signals. Can carry speech, data, vido and supervisory signals, but are best suited for speech signals. Close - Routers, Firewall and Switches Network Cabling Voice T-1, PRI PRI: Primary Rate Interface. Close Circuits, Analog Data T-1, DS3 DS3: A transmission system that uses repeaters that compensate for analog medium impairments and produce output signals that are linear-scaled versions of input signals. Can carry speech, data, vido and supervisory signals, but are best suited for speech signals. Close , OC3 OC3: Optical Carrier, level 3. Fiber optic backbone for large networks with large voice/data/video traffic needs. Made up of a SONET (Synchronous Optical Network) ring to maintain its redundancy during high speed transmissions. Capable of 2,000 simultaneous voice transmissions with each transmission carrying varying data types. Close , MPLS MPLS: Multi-Protocol Label Switching. A mechanism for packet forwarding in network routers. Works by tagging packets with an indentifier (label) to distinguish LSPs (Label Switched Paths). Then it looks up the LSP in its own forwarding table to determine the best link over which to forward the packet, and the label to use on the next hop. A different label is used for each hop allowing for the use of fast and simple forwarding engines, as the router can select the label to minimize processing.
